April Bostic Avatar
April Bostic

Bio

It was pretty easy for my mother to think of a name for me when I was born in April 1978. I was raised in New Jersey and I still live there today, but I have dreams of moving to the West Coast. I’m not married, I don’t have any pets or children, but I have one younger sister who is also my best friend. I found an interest in computers during high school. When I graduated, I attended DeVry University and earned an Associate’s degree in Computer Information Systems. I currently work as a security administrator in the Information Technology field, but I don’t consider myself a techie. Away from work, I like to play around with Photoshop. I make graphics for my stories and I made some of the graphics for my website. Another one of my hobbies is collecting Barbie dolls. I currently have over 200 in my collection. When I’m in the mood for reading, my favorite literary genre is paranormal erotica romance. My favorite books are the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris. I’m also a big fan of the television adaptation True Blood. Other authors I enjoy are Lora Leigh, J.R. Ward, Kresley Cole, and Sherrilyn Kenyon.

A Rose to the Fallen was inspired by actor Toby Hemingway after I saw him in The Covenant in September 2006. The book began as a Toby fan-fiction written by me in July 2007. I hosted the story on LiveJournal until I created my own Toby Hemingway Fan-fiction website in January 2008. Some of my readers expressed that my fan-fiction was better suited as a book. I agreed with them because one of my goals in life was to publish at least one book. Over the next few months, the story was edited and self-published through Author House. I closed my website in November 2008 when I announced my fan-fiction was being transformed into a book. A Rose to the Fallen was released in December 2008 and I opened my new author website. I’ve been asked why I chose to self-publish instead of submitting my manuscript to a literary agent or publishing house. The answer is simple: I’m used to taking the initiative when I want something done, and I pride myself on being self-sufficient. So I thought: ‘Why wait for someone else to recognize the potential of my manuscript when I could just publish the book myself?’ Self-publishing fit my goal and my personality. Not to mention, its guaranteed publishing and I keep all the rights to my book.

My writing résumé isn’t very extensive. I lightly dabble in poetry, having written a total of four unpublished poems: Honey Dip, Do I Love You? , My Soul Mate, and Love Infinite. The last poem is about my characters Tristan & Bridget from A Rose to the Fallen and you can read it on my site under the Poetry category. I’ve written two unpublished erotica short stories called Panties Optional and Eros, My Love. I’ve also written a Lord of the Rings fan-fiction entitled Of Elves and Men which is hosted on FanFiction.net. It was the first story I had written as an adult and it reads more like a script. My second novel is an adult paranormal romance entitled The Howling Heart. It was inspired by another actor named Alex Pettyfer and I wrote the hero Riley in his likeness. I’m hosting my second novel on FictionPress and Authonomy as a free story to read. My hope for the future is that A Rose to the Fallen is adapted for film. One of my dreams is to see my characters on the big screen. I’m a realist and I know the odds of a film being produced from a self-published book are slim to none, but hey…a girl can dream, right?

Do soul mates really exist? Is there really another person out there who was born just for you? And are they the only one who can answer your heart’s call? Bridget Monahan is an elementary school teacher, and she’s about to find out that perhaps soul mates do exist. Her heart is on the mend from many failed relationships, she’s a skeptic when it comes to find love, and the last thing she wants is to be set up on another blind date. However, she is introduced to the charming Tristan Hathaway. Bridget’s first impression of Tristan is that he reminds her of an angel with a British accent that makes her knees weak. When they begin their passionate romance, Tristan is able to break her defenses that were guarding her heart for so long, and as Bridget allows herself to fall deeper in love with him, she starts to believe that they are soul mates. But she also learns that although his beauty is near perfection, he is not without flaws, and there’s more to him than she ever imagined. Not to mention he can seduce her unlike any man she’s ever known and take her mind, body, and soul to a place of sheer ecstasy. Bridget unexpectedly becomes the student in this magical love affair and her biggest lesson may be that true love and eternity are bound.

Bio

Keta lives in the Midwest portion of the country on six acres of beautiful woodland. Here, she communes with nature; eagles, owls and loons (the winged version). There's a lovely environmental lake on her property named after a famous Native American chief, and the locals insist burial grounds from 150 years ago exist in her woods. Hmm. Maybe it's not always the wind she hears howling at night. When Keta isn't writing she loves to read and garden and spends far too much time at the local animal shelter trying to wrangle a way to adopt them all. Two years ago she adopted Emma LaPounce, a mid-life feline who was in crisis when her long-time owners moved out of town, took their furniture but left her behind. Go figure! Hours before Emma was to journey to the other world, Keta adopted her, and now she runs the entire darn house. Keta writes erotic romance and gay fiction for multi-publishers (too many).

Victoria Laurie
Victoria Laurie

Bio

I began writing my first Abby Cooper novel in the winter of 2003. As a professional psychic of many years, I really wanted to portray an intuitive as a normal person—because we really are normal after all….we’re just a bit more “sensitive” than most. Truth be told, even after Abby Cooper, Psychic Eye was published, I had no thoughts of becoming a full time professional writer too. Back then I firmly believed that I’d write two or three books in the Psychic Eye series, and move on to some other hobby. What I didn’t fully realize until I was finishing my third book, was truly how much joy I find in telling a story. For me there is almost nothing more satisfying than writing those final twenty pages of a novel after taking all my characters on something of a roller coaster ride. And I live for those moments when, creatively, it feels like I actually got it right. I suppose I’d better love what I do, because now there’re three separate books for each of my three series to turn out every year. It is work, but it’s fabulous work if you can get it. I still do psychic readings for clients too, mostly because my fans are the best on the planet, and connecting with them through a session always makes my day! So, if you’re a fan, I thank you. If you’re a client, I thank you. If you’re just stopping by to check me out…peruse at your leisure!

Professional psychic Abigail Cooper has received a cold welcome from some prickly investigators at the FBI. But that won't stop her from following her intuition...even if it brings her eye to eye with acts of true evil.

SOME COLD CASES ARE BETTER LEFT COLD...

As the FBI's newest civilian profiler, Abby Cooper has a tough job ahead of her. Not only does she have to use her powers of intuition to help solve a backlog of the bureau's cold cases, but she must also win over a frosty group of seasoned investigators and teach them how to develop their own perceptive abilities.

If that weren't challenging enough, Abby's sure that several of the cold cases are connected, but she's the only one who's convinced. Things go from bad to worse when Abby and another agent are suspended for not following protocol, leaving Abby and her old partner, Candice, to investigate on their own. To discover how these pieces fit together, Abby will have to call on every intuitive bone in her body...before she's the one put on ice.

Linda Lael Miller
Linda Lael Miller

Bio

Each morning shortly after the sun rises over Spokane, Washington, New York Times bestselling author Linda Lael Miller pulls on her cowboy boots and heads for the stables for a few quiet moments with her horses before she settles in to write her pages for the day. As the daughter of a town marshal, Linda has come home to the western lifestyle that gave birth to one of today’s most successful authors. With more than 80 novels to her credit, the self-confessed barn goddess left Washington years ago and pursued her wanderlust, living in Arizona and London and traveling the world. But now the “First Lady of the West” is glad to be back home, writing contemporary and historical novels that have earned her awards and placements on all the national bestsellers lists.

Linda traces the birth of her writing career to the day when a Northport teacher told her that the stories she was writing were good, that she just might have a future in writing. Later, when she decided to write novels, she endured her share of rejection before she made her first sale in 1983. Since then, Linda has successfully published historicals, contemporaries, paranormals, and thrillers before coming home, in a literal sense, and concentrating on novels with a Western flavor. For her devotion to her craft, the Romance Writers of America awarded her their prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007. Linda's latest New York Times bestseller is Montana Creeds: Dylan, a March 2009 novel about Dylan, the second of three hell-raising Creed brothers. The former rodeo cowboys hang up their championship belt buckles and come home to Stillwater Springs, Montana, to restore the family's neglected ranch and dignity to the Creed name, to mend fences and have kids that bear their name. The first brother, Logan, launched the series in February with his story, and Tyler winds up the trilogy in April. Of course, the estranged brothers need help in their endeavors and find honorable equals in women struggling to build loves for themselves and their families.

Once a struggling young mother, Linda is devoted to helping women who long to improve their lot in life through education. Each year she sponsors a round of competition for her Linda Lael Miller Scholarships for Women. The stipends, which she funds from her writing and speaking earnings, go to women 25 years and older who have a difficult time qualifying for traditional scholarships. Linda’s grants may be used for childcare, transportation, or any other expense that stands between a woman’s dreams and fulfillment. Linda is excited about her association with The Humane Society of the United States, for whom she has become an advocate for the group’s Pets for Life program. Once someone finds a furry friend to bring into their home, Linda and The HSUS want to help them learn how to keep the critter for life. Linda has come a long way since leaving Washington to experience the world. "But growing up in that time and place, in a family grounded in Western values, served me well," she allows. "And I'm happy to be back home."

Joanne Rendell
Joanne Rendell

Bio

Joanne Rendell is the author of The Professors’ Wives’ Club, Crossing Washington Square, and the forthcoming Out of the Shadows (all published by New American Library, an imprint of Penguin). She lives in New York City with her husband, a professor at NYU, and her son. Joanne grew up in England—on Plymbridge Road, in a town called Plympton, which is near the city of Plymouth. Even as a child, she enjoyed all the Plyms in her address. Plymouth is a good five hour drive from London and a much longer journey from New York City, yet when Joanne was young she had a crush on the Big Apple (she now blames her mum’s love of American cop shows like Cagney and Lacey). When she was ten years old, in fact, she wrote a series of stories about a couple of kids who find a magic footpath in New York’s Central Park. After leaving school, Joanne went to the University of Leeds in Yorkshire where she completed a degree in English Literature and Philosophy—and spent countless Friday nights dancing to classic 90’s hits like Pulp’s Common People and (yes, I admit it) Take That’s Relight My Fire.

The student life was too much fun for Joanne, so she went on to do a Masters at King’s College London and then a PhD in English Literature at the University of Sheffield. She still did a lot of dancing as a grad student, but she also enjoyed jetting to far-flung places to attend academic conferences. On one such adventure to a conference being held in Saskatoon, Canada (it took 3 flights and over twenty hours traveling to get there), she met a professor from the U.S. named Brad Lewis. Over wilting hors d’oeuvres at a pre-conference mixer, they discovered they liked the same books, loved the same philosopher, Michel Foucault, and even more importantly they both had all the albums of the great Billy Bragg. Joanne and Brad started to write papers together, organize conference panels, email furiously, and eventually they fell hopelessly in love. After Joanne was done with her PhD, she upped sticks and moved to New York to be with Brad, who teaches at NYU. Not long after they got married, and not too much longer after that, their son Benny arrived on the scene.

Over the past six years, Joanne has juggled life as a stay-at-home mum with writing novels. She hasn’t left academia completely behind. She and Brad are faculty in residence in one of NYU dorms and they run events, book groups, and programs for the students who live in their building. Also, Joanne’s novels are all set at Manhattan U—a university in downtown New York which looks, she does admit, a little like NYU. When she’s not writing or exploring the dinosaur halls at the American Museum of Natural History, she loves to eat burritos, listen to books on her iPod, and think about Cadbury’s Chocolate Buttons which aren’t readily available in the U.S. Joanne hasn’t found a magic footpath in Central Park yet, but she continues to search.

You can find out more about Joanne at her website, Facebook and Twitter.

Some women follow their hearts; others follow their minds. In this “charming, witty, and cerebral” second novel from the acclaimed author of The Professors’ Wives’ Club, we return to Manhattan University, where two strong-willed women are compelled to unite their senses and sensibilities. Professor Diana Monroe is a highly respected scholar of Sylvia Plath. Serious and aloof, she steadfastly keeps her mind on track. Professor Rachel Grey is young and impulsive, with a penchant for teaching popular women’s fiction like Bridget Jones’ Diary and The Devil Wears Prada, and for wearing her heart on her sleeve. The two conflicting personalities meet head to heart when Carson McEvoy, a handsome and brilliant professor visiting from Harvard, sets his eyes on both women and creates even more tension between them. Now Diana and Rachel are slated to accompany an undergraduate trip to London, where an almost life-threatening experience with a student celebrity will force them to change their minds and heal their hearts…together.
